Dejection

Glazed eyes at the brink of tears, a dull pain
Spreading like cancer, raging through the blood
And a numbness spreading across the brain.
There is no sting, rather the burn almost
Seems endearing but for the empty space,
Left in haste while the mumbling farewell
Drowned unheard in the stale evening air,
Crying out why life is full of dejection!
Fleeting shadows broken across the isle
Paint the road with darker stripes of gray.
Opaque flashes of bright yellow and red
From breathless cars, shimmering through the night.
Frozen heart on the verge of life, a groan
Rising like a monster wave through the soul,
Exploding across the dreams with a scorn.
There is no pain at all, there is no blood
To give away but for the empty space
Left in haste while the mumbling farewell
Drowned unheard in the stale evening air,
Crying out why life is full of dejection!
The sky is glowing with stars and the moon
And the night with bright colors of the life,
Glazed eyes can see them excellently fair
But cannot feel how beautiful they are…
