Harmony

The city is teeming with sounds tonight;
Cries of joy, of fear, agony and death
Some indecent while the rest rather mild
And the rumble of weakened dreams crushing down.
Tonight with noises all the words are drowned
Like our coherent thoughts and sanity.
Vast waves of sounds with no symphony
Reverberating through the cityscape
Until suddenly all the noises die,
Out of breath by a pair of choking hand
As upon the world an eerie calm descends
And the submerged words find their harmony.
