Aboard an ocean liner, vast,
that flew the flag of oblivion
I sat beside the desire of my heart
and she with her warm smile beckoned.
Then I asked how her life had been
since the time we spent together.
While my heightened senses fainted from
the mellow sweetness of her skin,
in her tone lied a bitterness, sublime
and in words barely audible she replied,
‘Hung up, as it were, in ragged chains
of raw nerves and arteries and veins…’
The rest was unheard in the wind
as right then with a sudden thrust the ship
moved ahead through the billowing waves
and for a while our bodies touched.
With a lump in my parching throat
and a surge in my throbbing heart,
I asked, ‘How long the journey lasts?’.
That time around her face was close enough
and her voice, loud and firm, as if
she had prepared herself to answer this
for all her life. As we sat on the deck,
eyes across the sun, ‘Forever.’, she said.

A Simple, Sinful Love

No matter how much indifference I have seen
in your eyes, in the end the only thing
that shall remain in my feeble heart
is the way they have danced tonight
with the glint from a sharpened grin so bright.
And no matter how much insolence I have seen
on your lips, in the end the only thing
I shall recall of them painted red
is the way you parted them tonight
with the hint of love and sin though I never tried.

Intoxication

When a searing thirst parches the soul dry
in search of intoxication
around the luring means, too tired of life
and tired too of the wait for bloody death,
weary of the ways of this world,
there seems a lot of noise and too much light
scattering the spectrum of thoughts across
the ever spreading universe…
And then soon the bleeding starts from inside
as blue patches grow just beneath the skin.

A Love Song (We could have)

When love whispered, “we could have spent the night
entwined in each others’ impassioned arms”,
though my heart could understand, she was right,
my blood was too shy to glow with the warmth.
With darkness outside, gently flew the air
and the smell of love was everywhere
but thunders flashing near the horizon
behind the apparent calm seemed too strong.

Song of Indifference (Spiral way to death)

… And waiting for death is tedious no doubt
in this world, where the fools are full of clout
but dragging a life, meek and lame, along
makes us wonder in vain, ‘what went wrong!’.
On this spiral way to death as we go
the pain is lesser for the less we know.
… While waiting through the barren nights and days
with furled wings never flapped for lack of space
as we behold injustice all around
a disdain sets in and takes us down.
On this spiral way to death as we go
the pain is lesser for the less we know.
