Even an Inland taipan is less venomous
and less deadlier is a bull elephant in heat
than human beings, the supreme genre of life on earth.
Against the venom and death that our petty whims
are known to have unleashed so far, that of the bull
or the snake’s seems as harmless as a children’s toy.
Even an erupting volcano cannot be
as inconsiderate as our greed, infinite
and for lust the carnage we are known to have left,
the deadliest tsunami is a child’s play to it.
With a touch of vanity in our species’ name,
perhaps to presume that human beings are born wise,
almost everything that we shall ever do
will only be baser than the works of a mindless beast.
