Those eyes had a fire burning deep inside,
despite the apparent calm smeared on them;
a fire that only love could smell or see,
a fire that only love could set aflame!
It burned with a softness you might have seen,
when a moon glowed with the sun on her face,
though invisible to human eyes, until
love arrived as clouds when a nova burns!
Many years later when these eyes were set
to lose whatever fire they had in them,
I met her again and right away came to know,
the fire I saw in her eyes on that fatal hour,
the fire that I thought only love could set aflame
was nothing but a dream my eyes had forced on hers!
Thanks for a thoughtful poem. One day I may share some of mine :0)
