The dawns start with green

in a million shades at least,
on the trees and plains.

Then the sun reaps through

the emerald hue and burns
the new life to grow.

At noon the clouds come

to quench the thirst of the ground,
burned so ruthlessly.

The afternoon sky

blues again with streaks of white
to welcome the dusk.

The evening lights

are ripe and sparkling yellow
with the setting sun.

Then the dark nights come,

too cold and indifferent.
We wait for the sun!

  1. Excellent Haikus!! I loved the stark contrast between day and night, the movement in the rising and lowering of the temperatures, and the anticipation mixed with the familiar. Summer is definitely my favorite!
