We Are, Both!

We Are, Both!

No,
please
do not shake your head

in kindled vehemence
we are not angels,
neither God!

As human beings with consciousness,
latent at birth and later
buried miles under
the mounds
of stories,
we are
both
good
and evil,
enlightened
and ignorant.
Our thoughts can be
both vicious and virtuous.
The contrast lies in our acceptance!

If knowledge does not admit her ignorance,
if virtues do not confess her evil thoughts,
and if light never meets the darkness
on the other side, the ignorance
overflows and the evil inside
in silence grows,
brought up by
our reluctance
to wake up and
open our eyes.
And evil, overgrown, lurks
in our subconscious minds,
as we live our conscious life
without a shred of conscience.
With only our virtues thoroughly
and consciously emphasized, the evil
permeates our thoughts and feelings about
all others, everyone, except the face we see
introspecting, or in an ordinary mirror on the wall!

God’s Language

God’s Language

Is there a tongue, favored by the Creator,
a language dearer than the rest to God?
Sanskrit perhaps, the voice of the oldest of Faiths
or perhaps Aramaic, Hebrew or Arabic
but that would have been so ungodly and partial,
for why not Tamil or the Sumerian archaic!
Has not the Omnipotent created us all
with love, in kindness, both the great and small?

What is the language of a human soul?
In which tongue does a consciousness reproach?
In the given subject’s mother tongue, one might say
but conscience predates the spoken language, so nay!
‘Tis both common and eternal, more akin to numbers,
for that alone, my friends, can be God’s true vernacular!

Precious Peace

Precious Peace

Of course, it feels great to be understood
but even when some are not, let them be
not whining but silent in gratitude
instead of craving for felicity!

What good might come when you are recognized
after struggling hard for becoming so,
toiling through prolonged days and sleepless nights?
Can love be spontaneous when it is sought?

So let us rather not yearn for the light
of approval and acceptance at all
but follow what conscience endorsed as right
and love, just for the love of human souls!

Precious peace will not be found through an arcane trick
but in the courage to offer the other cheek!

The Howls, Conscience and Destiny

The Howls, Conscience and Destiny

The wailing ambulance could find no space
and the howls seemed to pierce
the ears of those that sat inside
more than they could penetrate the conscience
that crowded the atmosphere,
so indifferent all around!

Had they been where I’m sitting now,
could they be so casual
but why must we keep our eyes closed,
until the incident is personal?

Beware, o ignorance
there is a thing called Destiny!
So decide now, where do you stand –
with the shifting paradigms or with me?

The Voices in My Head

The Voices in My Head

These voices that scream and whisper
in my head, perpetual, even
in my dreams they keep persisting
like entropies around the edge
of the cosmos, are driving me insane!

Each of them is as different
as human thoughts can be, while some
in mellow whispers sing of love,
others are more inclined to scream
in rage against a perceived injustice!

Then I heard that conscience has a voice too,
praising good deeds, from a biased perception,
with loud words and mildly admonishing
my evil deeds, which I had never meant to do!
